WE ENVISION EVERY STUDENT THINKING, LEARNING, ACHIEVING, AND CARING

April 2024

I hope this message finds you well. As we approach the final stretch of the school year, I wanted to take a moment to update you on some important happenings at our school.

First and foremost, the upcoming weeks are going to be exceptionally busy for us here at 7th Street. With various events, assessments, and preparations underway, we must stay connected. I urge all parents to ensure they receive messages through our EZ message system regularly. This platform is our primary means of communication, especially during these hectic times.

One event on the horizon is the commencement of state testing for grades 3-5. Beginning Monday, April 8, our students will be participating in these assessments. We highly encourage all students to take part, as the results contribute to our state's academic ranking.  Last year we received the highest ranking a school can receive (distinction) for our academic performance.  This is significant and we are proud of those results. Please consult your child's classroom teacher for the exact testing schedule, as it may vary slightly between classes.

In other news, I want to inform you of some adjustments to our end-of-year schedule. Due to our impending move, graduation ceremonies have been rescheduled to May 16. While we will still have school from May 20-22, we have decided to cancel classes on May 23rd for Elementary School only to facilitate packing activities. Please note that the last day for Pre-School students will also be May 16, while all other students will continue through the 22nd with our traditional end-of-year events still scheduled. Additionally, access to the building will be restricted after May 23rd as abatement procedures begin.

As always, here are some important dates to mark on your calendars:

  • April 1: Dentist visit for Dental Health Education
  • April 1: State Testing Window Begins
  • April 4: 3rd-grade Field Trip
  • April 8: Solar Eclipse Viewing (Glasses will be provided to each student)
  • April 8: Spring Pictures
  • April 15: 75% AR Goal Deadline (Must meet the goal in points, quiz scores, and book level)
  • April 15-18: Book Fair in the Children's Library
  • April 18: FFA Barnyard
  • April 25: Earth Day Activities
  • April 29: Mary Davis Class Pictures
  • April 30: 5th Grade Empire Electric Visit to Classroom
  • April 30:  May 2: DIBELS Testing K-5

Please ensure these dates are noted in your calendars, and feel free to reach out if you have any questions or concerns.  Also, thank you for your continued support and involvement in our school community.
